Dr Kate Crawfurd

Dr Kate Crawfurd is an artist and scientist. Kate trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and painted scenery for many West End shows, Sydney Opera House and the Royal Albert Hall. After becoming concerned about environmental change Kate re-trained as a marine biologist at the University of Plymouth and Plymouth Marine Lab, specialising in phytoplankton responses to climate change. Kate leads the community plastic recycling project, Precious Plastic Plymouth. Kate always makes time for sailing, sea swimming and enjoying the beautiful Devon coast and countryside. She loves Devon, and feels very lucky to live here. She constantly inspires others to appreciate and respect the beautiful region and planet that we inhabit.
