Dr Michele Kiernan

Dr Kiernan is a Research Fellow in the Plymouth University Systems Biology Centre, with responsibility for running the genomics laboratory (next generation sequencing on the Ion Torrent PGM, digital PCR and qPCR).

Formally she was the senior Technician in Plymouth University Centre for Research in Translational Biomedicine, with responsibility for molecular biology research laboratories, the running of technical equipment (flow cytometer) and supporting microbiology teaching. Michele was also a lecturer at Plymouth City College, teaching biology and biotechnology at GCSE and A-level followed by a lecturer and Demonstrator at Plymouth University, teaching microbiology and biochemistry.

Michele continues to enjoy running practical sessions such as PCR and gel electrophoresis at the University and for local schools where they do not have technical facilities.
